Helena Chemical Company, a national agricultural-chemical company, has an immediate opening for a Products Specialist in our Western Business Unit; the position will be in California.


SUMMARY: Organizes and implements technical service, training and marketing operations to achieve short-term and long-term business development objectives in Helena s nutritional and bioscience products market.  Plans, implements and monitors sales related R & D activities.  Identifies new business opportunities and develops action plans for new products, services and markets.  Must primarily perform office or non-manual work directly related to management policies or general business operations.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related field or ten years sales/marketing experience in the agricultural or related industry and an understanding of nutritionals and related products.




  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and graphics software.
  • Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and restraints.





  • Promotes Helena s Proprietary nutritional and bioscience products in the Business Unit, interfacing with Business Unit, Division and selected Branch personnel.
  • Works with the Helena Product Managers (HPMs) to train the sales force in Helena s proprietary nutritional and bioscience product lines and crop use programs enabling the sales force to confidently sell those products/programs.
  • Supports and assists Helena Product Managers (HPM s) in planning and implementing training programs for Nutritional and Bioscience products.
  • Attends trade shows to assist with booth.
  • Prepares and follows up on Business Unit and/or Division action plans which outline sales related R&D, new product/program development, marketing and related activities for Nutritional and Bioscience products.
  • Works with the Helena Products Group Marketing and/or Sales Managers to develop market analysis for possible new offerings.
  • Coordinates the activities of sales reps of outside vendors with Proprietary offerings to make sure that their activities are consistent with Helena Products Group s overall philosophy and direction
  • Provides input related to R&D, A&P and S&M with direct assistance.
  • Budgets, monitors and controls agreed upon expenses.
  • Maintains good communication with Business Unit VP, Division Managers, Proprietary Product Managers and Sales / Marketing Managers.,
  • Utilizes voice mail, phone/fax and face-to-face meetings with Business Unit, Division and Corporate staff to maintain good communication.
  • Develops a Program Approach that can be given to PPMs or salespersons to enable them to sell nutritionals and bioscience products.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
