The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission, Prince George's County Parks and Recreation, Maintenance & Development Division (M&D) is seeking a Park/General Maintenance Worker II-CDL/PAC.

The successful candidate will work on the Landscape Development crew, which provides landscape/turf grass management throughout the Prince George's County park system. The candidate will perform all facets of turf grass maintenance, including-seeding over seeding at parks and athletic fields, ability to apply fertilizer, as well as pre-emerge ad post emerge herbicides, utilized various turf civilizations methods such as aeration, verti-cutting, slicing and pin spiking. They may also use York rake, Roto-tillers and Gill pulverizer for seed bed prep and have ability to operate the Hydro-seeder, along with blowers, crimper, roller and top dresser, to name just a few.  

Preferred candidates will possess: 1. CDL A License preferred.
2. MD Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator's certification in the Turf category         within 6 months of employment.
  (Work Hours are 6:30 am - 3:15 pm)

 Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school graduate or GED, and five years of progressively responsible experience in grounds maintenance, building maintenance, and park maintenance; or

2. An equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Pass Commission medical examination.

4. Valid driver's license.

5. Additionally, contingent upon area of assignment, some positions in this class may require:
a. Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements upon appointment, or the ability to acquire one within six months.
b. Maryland Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator's certification in the categories appropriate to the work assignment.
c. Certification by the National Playground Safety Institute.
