Job Summary **This position is located at the Ornamental Horticulture Research Center in Mobile, Alabama. This is a three-year limited term position. Continuation of employment will be based on availability of funds.**

Essential functions include, but are not limited to: perform various farm tasks such as tilling, planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, spraying and fertilizing; perform routine measurements and analysis on research projects; operate general and specialized farm equipment; maintain farm facilities to include buildings, roads, and fences; make observations, take weights, and measurements; handle, store, and apply pesticides and other hazardous materials; plant, fertilize, prune, and maintain various woody ornamentals and flowering annuals and perform various other duties as assigned by supervisor.  

Minimum Qualifications The minimum qualification is a high school diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection; and a pesticide applicator's license or the ability to obtain a pesticide applicator's license within six months of the start date.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated technical excellence, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required. Selected applicant must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States by the start date and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
