SUMMARY:   The GIS Analyst provides analytical, scripting and GIS systems support. The role is responsible for design and creation of data products, designing custom reports, administration, ad-hoc GIS analysis, production of map products and views, scripting and automation, testing and troubleshooting applications, and coordination with others on the GIS team.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 

  • Coordinates the creation of new and existing information management products and services that are used as deliverables to customers and tools to assist with decision making on the farm.
  • Consults with business unit management and personnel to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage, formatting, and security requirements. Designs and develops operational workflows in an Enterprise Business Suite environment.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations for potential areas where existing business services, policies and procedures require change or new ones need to be developed.
  • Develops, edits, and maintains operating procedures and standards manuals.
  • Communicates with other department staff to identify GIS deliverables, create mapping templates, GIS models, Reports and other output based on those needs.
  • Works with employees, outside vendors, outside data sources and others to solve problems as well as provide solutions to issues pertaining to Information management in a friendly and business professional manner.
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives based upon both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements.
  • Will provide GIS software support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of GIS software and associated deliverables to the users of the GIS data and software within the company.
  • The GIS Analyst will attend training sessions and/or educational seminars or classes to remain current on new tools, technology and other processes pertaining to the necessary software to support information management programs. Aid in conducting training sessions to implement new or improved systems and procedures.
  • Analyzes business and user needs, document requirements. Assist in defining data needs, workflow process and/or system requirements and recommendations.
  • Develops priorities, plans, and follow-up practices for new systems and processes. Design and create custom reports.
  • Design and create mapping and data products and facilitate end-user consumption.
  • Create products and models using Python scripting and/or process automation.
  • Work with department team to manage and execute project workflows and tasks for a variety of enterprise solutions.
  • Troubleshoot solution errors and support end users.
  • Tests and directs the functional activities associated with enhancing applications.
  • Analyze and review new and upgraded software.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

 

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Geography/GIS, Mathematics Science, Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited four-year college or university.  A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience with GIS systems and/or applications.  Additional experience with Enterprise Business Suite applications as well as software implementations preferred.                                                                  

 

3+ years of ArcGIS technology experience.

 

1+ years of experience with relevant reporting applications or engines.

 

Experience with design and development of custom reports, Python scripting and/or process automation.

 

Experience working with agricultural or environmental data a plus

 

 

OTHER SKILL and ABILITIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of ArcGIS software and scripting.
  • Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
  •             Strong knowledge of the Esri suite of software.
  •             Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  •             Strong team skills and the ability to work independently.
  •             Good customer service skills.

  • Strong Skills in SQL and Python.
  • Experience utilizing GIS reporting applications
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to utilize multiple data analysis software packages.
  • General understanding of geography and GPS systems.
  • Valid driver s license.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Solid working knowledge of data modeling and database design, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Technologies, Cognos-TM1, Kofax/Markview, Oracle Discoverer, other query tools, and Microsoft Project. Oracle SQL a plus.

 

 

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outdoor weather conditions and frequently is exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
